After all, when you fall in love with a handcrafted furniture piece, it’s natural to imagine it just right for your space.
But let’s take a moment to clarify what’s really possible in the world of handcrafted furniture from India and international shipping – and why Om Home & Garden still offers more flexibility than most.
1. Custom-Made Furniture – Yes, But Not for Single Orders (With Some Exceptions)
At Om Home & Garden, every piece is handmade in cooperation with our production facilities in India. Each wardrobe, sideboard, and cabinet is unique, crafted with care and natural variations. That might sound like we could offer full made-to-measure furniture – and technically, we could.
But here’s the reality:
Each month at least one big furniture container reaches alone to the Netherlands. That means every piece is part of a carefully coordinated process: design, production, inspection, packing, and shipment.
To create fully custom-made furniture for individual customers, we would need to:

manage special design requests

supervise production separately

handle detailed quality control on location

adjust logistics and timelines
-
answer multiple update requests from clients
That’s a huge amount of work for just one piece – and would lead to higher costs, longer wait times, and less focus on the collection as a whole.
However – we do make some exceptions:

Wardrobes can be made in a deeper version to accommodate hanging clothes

Our standard bed designs can be adapted to different mattress sizes
These adaptations are possible, but please note: they come with a lead time of approximately 3 to 4 months and must be confirmed in advance. We consider them small-scale customisations, and are happy to discuss details.
2. But for Projects? Absolutely.
If you’re working on a restaurant, hotel, café, or interior design project that involves multiple furniture pieces, we’re happy to offer furniture customization.
In these cases, adjustments to dimensions or design are no problem – and we love collaborating with professionals to make sure everything fits just right.
3. Furniture Delivery to the Room? Rarely – But Sometimes Possible
Another big question we get:
“Can you deliver with two or three people into my apartment or bedroom?”
We get it. Large pieces, tight hallways, stairs – they all make delivery tricky.
Here’s the standard across most of Europe:
Furniture is typically delivered by freight carriers to the curbside. That means no setup, no carrying inside, and usually just one delivery person.
However – good news for some of our customers!
For deliveries within the Netherlands, Belgium, and North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in Germany, we can arrange delivery to the room of choice with 2–3 people, for an additional fee.
